Saturday, 18 October 2008

The thrill of performing in spectacular Giants Stadium could be seen across the faces of thousands of students Saturday as the notable Yamaha Cup took center stage in New Jersey’s Meadowlands.

For Freshman Amber Gaydos, the moment she caught the first glimpse of the enormity of the stadium from the field tunnel, the words “Oh my God” came from her lips. “Seeing it like this makes me really nervous!”

Gaydos, a colorguard member of the Manchester Township High School Marching Band, was one of many first-time performers at Giants Stadium, a venue of World Class caliber. In all, 44 marching bands performed in the US Scholastic Band Association’s Yamaha Cup. From noon until very late in the evening, music, color and passion filled the air as young performers and musicians dazzled crowds with show concepts that ran the gamut.
