“Bands of America has embodied its mission and provided these life-changing experiences through music for all for more than 31 years,” says Scott McCormick, Music for All President and CEO. “Grand Nationals is the most exciting and largest event for high school bands in America. Anyone who has not been to Grand Nationals in the past few years will be amazed at what high school bands are accomplishing these days. It is an art form that is an exciting event for the entire family to enjoy,” says McCormick. The Grand National Championships offer a multitude of events for the entire family. Event highlights include: (detailed listing with times follows) • Indianapolis Power & Light Company IPS Marching Band Tournament featuring six IPS marching bands and the IPL IPS Marching Band Tournament Spirit Award honoring premiere audience participation with a panel of local celebrity judges Indianapolis Power and Light Company IPS Marching Band Tournament tickets are $10. A two-day Grand National preliminary pass is $24. Single preliminary tickets are available for $15 each day. Semi-Finals general admission tickets are $25, and Grand National Finals tickets that are still available range from $18 - $27 depending on specific locations. Press box reserved seating is also available for Semi-Finals ($75) and Finals ($125). Tickets can be purchased onsite at the RCA Dome ticket office, online at www.bands.org at least two weeks in advance of the event or through Ticketmaster. Children under eight years of age are admitted free with a paid adult admission for Prelims and Semi-Finals. All seats are reserved for Finals and children will need tickets to occupy a seat. Bands of America hosted 2006 Regional Championships this fall at the Indianapolis RCA Dome on Nov. 4; at Papa John’s Arena at Louisville, Kentucky; Youngstown State University at Youngstown, Ohio; Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN; University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, TX; Eastern Michigan University at Ypsilanti, MI; Towson University, Towson, MD; Pearland Stadium in Pearland, TX; Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ; Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL; the LA Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA; the Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis, MO; the Georgia Dome, Atlanta, GA; and the Alamodome, San Antonio, TX. More than 270,000 teens, family members and enthusiasts attend BOA events each year with more than 100,000 teens and teachers participating. Hundreds of thousands worldwide access Bands of America through award-winning national newsletters (published four times annually), Web site (www.bands.org), video productions, and other print materials. Bands of America’s internationally acclaimed repertoire of events include more than 20 annual festivities in 14 states, like the fall Regional and Grand National Marching Band Championships, the Summer Symposium (June 25 -30, 2007, Illinois State University, Normal, IL), the National Concert Band Festival and National Percussion Festival (March 13 -17, 2007, Clowes Memorial Hall, Indianapolis, IN), Orchestra America National Festival (debuted in March of 2006 in Indianapolis, IN), student leadership workshops and more. 2006 marks Bands of America's 31st anniversary of creating, providing, and expanding positively life-changing experiences through music for all. Ninety-nine outstanding marching bands from 25 states will come together November 8 - 11, 2006, at the RCA Dome and Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, IN for the Bands of America Grand National Championship Presented by Yamaha. Recognized as the most prestigious marching band event of the year, Bands of America’s Grand National Championship showcases the exceptional talents of high school marching bands from across the country. The Grand National Championship represents the culminating event for Bands of America, concluding a fall season of 17 total championships held in major professional and top university stadiums nationwide. Grand Nationals is one of 20 Bands of America events held across the country annually, with an expected attendance of about 50,000 participants and spectators.
