Las Vegas Marching Arts, Inc. a Nevada Corporation has teamed up with area Lions Clubs said Randy N. Warner, Executive Director. Striving for excellence, Las Vegas Marching Arts is beginning the process of taking the Southern Nevada Marching Honor Band to the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena for 2011. This includes a filmed application due no later than June 1, 2009. “We are holding auditions for students in all Southern Nevada schools on March 28, 2009 at Mojave HS from 9a – 3p in hopes of getting 200+ interested musicians,’’ Warner says. “We have 13 HS band directors offering to assist with instruction, facilities for rehearsal and all that goes along with this endeavor and want to make sure that all private schools and home schooled students are aware of this opportunity as well” With invitations to perform in two local parades to help promote this program and to raise funds, we are moving forward with our goals to raise the funds for uniforms, music instruction and staffing. Uniforms will be reflective of the Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra era as they perform a special arrangement of their hits in a medley. The kids will not be asked to pay a fee, but only to sell two tickets at $75ea for our major fundraiser June 6 at UNLV at the Student Union Ballroom 7-9pm. The fundraiser is to be hosted by Miss Greater Las Vegas, Miss United States and Miss Nevada and will have a silent auction, raffles, cash bar and food leading up to the ‘guests of honor’ the Southern Nevada Marching Honor Band’s performance and showing of the video. We hope to get local and national music celebrities and shows to offer congratulatory videos for the kids and to offer items, services and show tickets for our fundraising efforts. LVMA is proud to announce the partnership with the local LV based Lions Clubs. to assist in preparation for our upcoming fundraising event in early summer to provide necessary resources to take 'Southern Nevada Marching Honor Band consisting of 200 of the area's finest musicians ages 13-21 to the Tournament of Roses parade. Roy Madison, area Lions Club President said, 'We are pleased to provide this amazing opportunity through our partnership with LVMA & ongoing community service to the young people of Southern Nevada." "At some point in time, we must all make the decision to stop exhausting our energies and resources that place their focus on only cleaning up yesterday's problems involving today's youth. Through bypassing the long arm of the law and judicial actions we can decide to implement solutions that will ultimately provide the youth with activities of our choosing. Such Activities will offer guidance through integrity and hard work through the proven effectiveness of a youth music organization." About Las Vegas Marching Arts LVMA, Inc. is a registered non profit Nevada Corporation and a federally recognized 501c3 tax exempt organization that focuses on the enrichment of the current music programs in Las Vegas. Our goal is to bring society together by providing a safe, drug free environment for our young leaders of the future. The organization provides highly qualified educators who utilize the "Music Educators National Standards" to offer the utmost education for our children. It takes the commitment of an entire community to assure that music is part of the core curriculum. Children engaged in music will be the innovation leaders of tomorrow, and there is no better way to build life-long participation in music than with a solid base of music education. We could use volunteers, donations and almost everything imaginable for this endeavor. Let us know if you would like to offer time, money or much needed 'in kind' donations such as office products, office space, and of course, music instruments. |
