The National Judges Association has announced changes in the Tournament of Bands and Tournament Indoor Association administration and leadership as of November 2008.

Director of Tournament of Bands is Mr. Jeffrey Dent, Salona, PA. He will be assisted by Dr. John Kreitzer, Lewes, DE.

Continuing as Director of Tournament Indoor is Ms. Donna Stout, Allentown, PA. She will now be assisted by Mr. William Morrison, Altoona, PA.

Tournament is one of the largest educational competitive band organizations in the country. Founded in 1972 by the National Judges Association, Tournament has grown to over 400 active school and independent organizations and provides performance opportunities in marching band, indoor guard, majorette, percussion and dance team as well as jazz band.

Tournament of Bands is a non-profit educational organization that is available to any middle, junior high, senior high, college or university band. TOB sanctions approximately 100 fall band events, and over 100 indoor events each year. Tournament Indoor Association also offers competitive classes for independent (non-scholastic) guards, majorette, percussion, and dance teams.

As part of the TOB/TIA commitment to education, scholarships totaling more than $100,000.00 have been awarded to graduating senior students for use at colleges and universities through the United States.

Tournament of Bands/Tournament Indoor Association rules, by-laws, score sheets and the judging philosophy are all developed by the members at congresses and by participation on technical committees (music, percussion, visual).

Currently, the Tournament of Bands/Tournament Indoor Association is divided into 13 geographic chapters that encompass 9 states – Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
